Lovers like forceful phrases that make them feel united in a special way. Thus, together forever, together until death or until death do us part, they are part of many love stories. However, not all loves endure the passage of time in the same way and end long before death or long before “forever”. Bonnie and Clyde’s love story is indeed one of those in which they love each other to death.
Delinquent love story
- At the beginning of the 20th century, the United States suffers what is known as the “great depression”, something much worse even than our current crisis situation. In this context, this love story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow takes place, two lovers who reinforce their relationship within the world of crime and which originates in the city of Dallas.
- Both are from the lower class, both have a very bleak future ahead of them, and both see shop robberies and bank robberies as their only chance for survival. Together until death
- As with all legendary figures, speculation about their relationship arose around the couple. Gossips said they couldn’t be a sentimental couple because Bonnie’s nymphomania was somehow incompatible with Clyde’s homosexuality. But the truth is that they were an envied happy couple. A well-matched couple who supported each other in the good and, above all, in the bad.
- On the occasions that Clyde had to go to jail, Bonnie was always visiting him. On one occasion, she was even the one who facilitated his escape from prison by bringing him a weapon on one of her visits. Together forever, legally or outside of it, but with the security of being able to count on each other in any situation.
- Although an ideal relationship is not living as fugitives outside the law, what really matters to us for our love story is the forcefulness of their love. So oblivious to the problems, so oblivious to the situation they were living in, but so strong that it led them to die together on that May 23, 1934 when the police riddled them with shots on a Louisiana highway. That day was the end of Bonnie and Clyde’s life, but the beginning of the legend.
